PUBLICITY SPECIALIST - This position is responsible for effectively planning, organizing and
executing promotional, publicity and public relations activities. Duties also include making effective
presentations and seeking funding sources.

211 of South Central Georgia is a comprehensive information and referral service offered free
to population of 18 South Central Georgia counties by the South Georgia Coalition to End
Homelessness
(SGCEH). This is a rural area of south Georgia, about 14 miles north of the Florida
state line and 250 miles south of Atlanta. While all can access the 2-1-1 abbreviated number
service, the bulk of calls come from low-income individuals and families seeking help. The line also
provides a vehicle for volunteering in numerous community activities (CNCS Senior Corp programs
include RSVP & FGP)

SGCEH mission is to eradicate causes of homelessness. 2-1-1 Call Center supports this objective.

Duties, Requirements and Benefits:
       Member Duties:        This AmeriCorps member will work with the Volunteer Connection
Director, who supervises the sponsor^s Foster Grandparent Program and Retired and Senior
Volunteer Program. The worker is expected to make contact in all of the ten counties covered by
the FGP and RSVP programs to seek out and help establish new locations for volunteers in those
programs. After and initial training period, the worker will be expected to build on the contacts
already made in the relevant communities to increase the number and range of sites available for
FGP and RSVP members to serve. Supervision is regular with increasingly less detailed review of
the work performed as the individual gains experience. The individual holding this position has
regular contact with service providers, various community groups, professionals and government
officials. Initiative is encouraged consistent with the individual^s assignments, background and
experience.
